Safeguarding Youth Training (SYT) is mandatory training for all registered adult leaders.
NOTE: In the past this was called Youth Protection Training (YPT)
This required training ensures that we are all aware of, and agree to abide by, the rules that keep our children safe while participating in Cub Scouting.
Upon completion of SYT, leaders are required to send their completion certificate* to the pack225@outlook.com alias. In this way, pack administration is able to track SYT, which must be re-taken every year.
To take SYT training, please follow these steps:
Go to https://my.scouting.org and login (this is the same login you use with Scoutbook). Each parent needs his/her own account.
You will find two icons (one in English, the other in Spanish), and by selecting one of the icons, you will find yourself in the BSA Learning Center, looking at the Mandatory- Youth Protection Training Learning Plan.
Take the "Safeguarding Youth" Learning Plan, it should take 15 minutes to renew (or 90 minutes if it has expired)
Your progress is saved so it's okay to break up the training as needed.
Once you have finished, you should receive an email with your Safeguarding Youth Training Certificate*. Please forward that PDF to pack225@outlook.com.
If you do not, you can retrieve the certificate by going back to the my.scouting.org main site and using the dropdown menu to select "My Training". Once there you will see information about your completion of Safeguarding Youth Training and be able to click on the icon to print the certificate*. Once you click on the icon, you can save the pdf and email it to us.
Please contact pack225@outlook.com if you have any issues accessing or completing SYT or sending us your certificate..
Remember: SYT must be renewed every year.
